Testing:
KPHE offers annual testing in cooperation with CHEWV. There are several testing options available through KPHE, WVHEA, private testing or testing with public or private schools. Please choose the option you feel best meets the needs of your child. Information on KPHE group testing and contact information for private testers will appear in the newsletter. We need individuals with degrees to assist in test administration. Individuals without 4-year degrees are needed also to help at the testing sites. Donations will be received at the testing site to help cover the cost for the use of the facility.

Portfolio Evaluation:
An alternative to testing for those who do not test well is the portfolio assessment. Many families use this option which requires collecting and organizing samples of your child's work throughout the year so that your evaluator can observe the academic progress of your child. It is suggested that you secure an evaluator at the beginning of the school year so that you will know what is expected for the child's portfolio. KPHE will provide information on evaluators in its newsletter.
West Virginia code requires academic assessment of your child on an annual basis with results submitted to the county superintendent by June 30th. These annual assessments may be done through standardized testing or portfolio evaluation.
